1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Afterlife ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Afterlife provides a digital "Dead Man's Switch" platform. Users can store encrypted messages that will be delivered to designated recipients only after a specified period of user inactivity (lack of "check-in").
3. User Responsibilities & "Check-in" Mechanism
Monitoring: You are solely responsible for maintaining regular "check-ins" to signify that you are still active.
Accuracy: You must provide valid and active email addresses for yourself, your witnesses, and your recipients.
Service Failure: Afterlife is not liable for the non-delivery or premature delivery of messages resulting from user error, incorrect contact information, or the failure of third-party email providers to deliver notifications (e.g., spam filters).
4. Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. Because we use Zero-Knowledge encryption, we cannot recover your encrypted messages if you lose access to your primary authentication method.
5. Payments and Subscriptions
Merchant of Record: All payments are processed securely via LemonSqueezy, our Merchant of Record.
Billing: By purchasing a plan, you agree to provide valid payment information. Subscriptions (if applicable) will automatically renew unless cancelled.
Pricing: We reserve the right to change our pricing at any time. Any changes will be notified via the Service or email.
6. Prohibited Content
You agree not to use Afterlife to store or transmit:
- Content that is illegal, harmful, or promotes violence.
- Material that infringes on the intellectual property of others.
- Any malware, viruses, or malicious code.
7. Limitation of Liability
Afterlife is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Afterlife shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from:
- Technical failures or downtime of our infrastructure (Supabase, Vercel).
- Lost data or compromised encryption due to user negligence.
- The content of the messages sent via the Service.
